“Okay, everyone, this is it,” said Jackson to the room. “You all know the situation. Those of you looking for the bomb, carry on looking. Time is running out. Those of you not involved in the live event, keep going. Shout out anything you find, no matter how insignificant. And those of you researching the audience, keep your eyes peeled. Tenant, how many cameras do we have on the audience?”

“Dozens, sir. I’ve got the live feed of all the major news channels and broadcasters.”

“Good, get them up on the screens. People, we need to be watching the audience. We have men at every door. If you see anything suspicious, call it out. We’ll have someone take them out the room. There’s a strong chance that Crowe has someone there to make sure Bernard goes through with it. We cannot let that happen,” said Jackson. “You can all see the table plan on the wall behind me. If you see someone acting suspect, call it out, gender, age, description, table number. We need to keep it as low key as possible.”

Jackson approached Reg as soon as he saw the team get their heads down. The noise in the room returned to its low hum of discussion and frantic clicking of keyboards.

“Tenant, what’s the news with Dubai?”

“Harvey won't read my messages. I believe he’s on the attack,” replied Reg.

“You believe? We need confirmation. At no point here can we let any of this roll without our understanding.”

“Affirmative, sir. I’ve sent him two messages. If he won't read them, I have no way of contacting him.”

Jackson huffed loudly through his nose. “You know him. What’s he likely to do?”

“He’s a good guy, sir, despite what you’ve heard or read.”

“You think he can stop this?”

“I think he’ll rescue Melody. In fact, I have no doubt about that.” Reg paused. “I can’t comment on Mrs Turvey and the girl.”

“You think he’d leave them there?” asked Jackson.

“I think he’ll read the situation, and do whatever he can with Melody as his priority.”

“Mills is not our priority. She knew the dangers.”

“With all due respect, sir, Harvey is not an operative. He’s just a capable man looking out for his girl.”

“How much does Stone know?” asked Jackson.

“He knew where to find Melody, and he knows she’s in trouble,” replied Reg. “What he’s found out since is unknown.”

“So he doesn’t know about the bomb?”

“I don't know. Maybe?” Reg shrugged.

“But he knows about the demands and the repercussions?”

“Your guess is as good as mine.”

“Tell me he knows that the local government need to stay out of the picture.”

“I may have missed that out during my covert briefing with him on the underground, sir.”

Jackson shook his head in disbelief. “Does Mills know Stone is there?”

“Bit of a risk, sir,” said Reg. “It might alter her mental state. She might act before Harvey is ready, change his plan.”

“Plan, Tenant?” said Jackson hopefully. “He has a plan?”

“Oh, believe me, sir; Harvey will have a plan A, B and C. Why do you think nobody ever caught him?” Reg smiled at his boss.
